Following
the concert, dinner was held in Rose Hall’s Allen Room,
overlooking Central Park, where YPC presented its
Humanitarian Award to founding board member Holcomb B. Noble
and its Corporate Award to Toyota, a longtime
supporter.
All
proceeds from the March 15 gala will help provide for
general operating expenses and scholarships for more than
half of the members of the chorus, which numbers more than
1100 young people through its core after-school program and
its satellite program in
New York City schools. This summer
the Young People’s Chorus of New York City returns to Japan for its second tour of the country and will
make its debut in Wales at the Llangollen International
Music Festival.
