Dr. Jane Goodall
Renowned primatologist and pioneering
ecological conservationist
Dr. Jane Goodall passed away at the age
of 91.
As the 2012 recipient of the "World
Harmony Award for Outstanding
Contribution," her death is considered a
significant loss to the global
environmental protection community.
Groundbreaking Research and Global
Impact
Since the 1960s, Dr. Goodall's
chimpanzee research in Tanzania's Gombe
National Park redefined the boundaries
between humans and the animal kingdom.
The "Roots & Shoots" international youth
environmental education program she
founded has now expanded to over 140
countries, nurturing a new generation of
environmental advocates.
International Acclaim
During the 80th anniversary
commemorations of the United Nations,
global leaders and figures expressed
their condolences:
A Nobel Peace Laureate described her work as
"a symbol of human conscience"
A former UN Secretary-General affirmed
her "historic contribution to promoting
harmonious coexistence between humans
and nature"
· Youth climate leaders pledged to
continue her environmental mission
World Harmony Organization's Address
The World Harmony Foundation stated in
its official tribute:
"Dr. Jane Goodall dedicated her life
to building a shared future for humans
and nature. Her spiritual legacy will
continue to guide global sustainable
development efforts."
A Life of Accolades
Dr. Goodall received numerous
international honors, including:
Dame Commander of the Order of the
British Empire (2003)
UN Messenger of Peace (2002)
World Harmony Award for Outstanding
Contribution (2012)
Presidential Medal of Freedom (2025)
Tang Prize in Sustainable Development
(2020)
The World Harmony Foundation
announced plans to host a
global memorial during upcoming
UN-related events, carrying forward Dr.
Goodall's vision of harmonious
coexistence.
