More than 60 theatre lovers seeking back stage stories and producing tips attended the January 11 session of CULTURE & COCKTAILS at Cafe Boulud. The topic was:

NO BIZ LIKE SHOW BIZ!
A Conversation with Big Time Producers

Vicki Halmos, producer of numerous Broadway & Off-Broadway shows and founder of the Palm Beach Principal Players, swapped humorous anecdotes and wry advice with Rodger Hess, producer of numerous Broadway shows including the Tony Award-winning revivals of Macbeth and 1776.  The two veteran producers were interviewed by Andrew Kato, Artistic Director of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

The next CULTURE & COCKTAILS event will be held at the Beach Club of the Boca Raton Resort & Club on Monday, February 1, and the topic will be:

CULTURAL BOUNTY / SOUTH COUNTY
A Conversation about the Booming Art Scene in Boca & Delray

Panelists will include:
+  George Bolge Executive Director
Boca Raton Museum of Art

+  Clive Cholerton, Artistic & Marketing Director
Caldwell Theatre

+  Daisy Fulton, Executive Director
EPOCH & Spady Museum

+  Joe Gillie, Executive Director
Old School Square Cultural Arts Center

+  Amy Hever, Director of Advancement
Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens

+  Charlie Siemon, Festival Chair
Festival of the Arts BOCA 2010

+  Marshall Turkin, President
Boca Symphonia

The panel moderator will be Palm Beach County Commissioner Steven Abrams

All CULTURE & COCKTAILS events are free for members of the Cultural Council ($175 level and above).  The price for everyone else is $35 per person with all proceeds going to the nonprofit Palm Beach County Cultural Council.

While CULTURE & COCKTAILS events are usually held at the Award-winning Cafe Boulud in Palm Beach, this is the first time that the popular series will be held in South County.  It  will be held at the Beach Club of the Boca Raton Resort & Club, 501 East Camino Real.

Each CULTURE & COCKTAILS event runs from 5 to 7 p.m., with registration and cocktails from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and the “Conversation” from 5:45 to 7 p.m., including audience Q&A.

Because of space limitations, each CULTURE & COCKTAILS event is limited to 60 RSVPs on a first-come basis.  Interested people can RSVP by calling the Cultural Council at 561.472.3330.

CULTURE & COCKTAILS is sponsored in part by The Palm Beach Daily News and PR-BS, a Boca-based public relations firm.

About the Palm Beach County Cultural Council:

Since inception, the Cultural Council has committed its energies and resources to supporting the establishment of new cultural institutions, enhancing existing organizations and encouraging opportunities for individual artists. Another primary focus of the Council is arts education.  For more information about the Palm Beach County Cultural Council, please visit www.palmbeachculture.com.
