Black Tie International Autism Speaks; 11th Annual NY Celebrity Golf Tournament

Autism Speaks Co-founders Suzanne and Bob Wright and event co-chairs Susan and Kevin Murray teamed up with famous personalities which included Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker, New York Giants’ linebackers Michael Boley, Zak Deossie and Jonathan Goff and defensive end Dave Tollefson, former Rescue Me star James McCaffrey, David Letterman announcer Alan Kalter, WNBC Sports Anchor Bruce Beck, Fox 5 News’ Duke Castiglione, former NBA All Star and Knicks fan favorite John Starks, and NBA Hall of Famer Gail Goodrich participated in Autism Speaks’ 11th Annual NY Celebrity Golf Challenge at Winged Foot Golf Club on Monday June 15 at 10:00 a.m. in Mamaroneck, New York. Also on hand to take a shot at winning the Golf Tournament and help increase awareness about autism and funds for autism research was actor Jack Mulcahy, former WNBC Sports News Anchor Len Berman, Jets Nation studio analyst and former football player Ray Lucas, former New York Giants Howard Cross, Phillippi Sparks and William Ard and former New York Islander Pat Flatley. The event was a huge success and raised nearly $800,00. About Autism Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person’s ability to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied by behavioral challenges. Autism spectrum disorders are diagnosed in one in 150 children in the United States, affecting four times as many boys as girls. The prevalence of autism has increased tenfold in the last decade. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have called autism a national public health crisis whose cause and cure remain unknown. www.autism.org
