New
York's 12th Annual
Tartan Day Parade -
April 10th 2010
|
|
The 12th Annual Tartan Day Parade, on Saturday April
10th, will be led by the Presiding Officer of the
Scottish Parliament, Alex Fergusson.
Thousands of marchers, bagpipers, dancers, clans,
societies and dignitaries - with over a hundred
little Scottie and Westie terriers - will be filling
Sixth Avenue in a celebration of
Scottish-Americans.
The parade begins at 2pm, and goes from 45th to 58th
Street.
"I am delighted that Alex Fergusson will be the
Tartan Day Parade's 2010 Grand Marshal," commented
Margaret Kennedy, President of the National Tartan
Day New York Committee.
"His support of the Parade has been greatly
appreciated by everyone involved and we are so
pleased that this year he will be leading us all up
the Avenue."
Tartan Week runs from April 3rd to 10th with
the Parade concluding a week of events that will
cover the city. From a 10k run in Central Park, to
the sound of bagpipes and Scottish music in
Lower Manhattan; from the celebration of fashion
innovation to the discussion of business
opportunities; there are events for all during the
week.
