of health care and violence are not something
that happens
somewhere else.
We will support projects in

anywhere, we can find good people who are
prepared to work locally to effectively help
the most needy and the forgotten.

effects.
We also intend to be very active in encouraging
new initiatives and start up programs,
especially where we can act quickly and help to
seed innovation and change.
Another area of particular interest is training
and education. We are especially excited by
the many opportunities created by the web and
affordable cell phone technology,which daily
reaches more
remote areas.
We are in the process of
putting together a small, highly skilled, and
experienced team to co-ordinate and
administer
our Philanthropic programs.

Critical call for action for Delivery
Millennium Development Goals
The year 2010 proved a key milestone in the United Nations’
family efforts to accelerate progress on Millennium
Development Goals 4&5 for Child Mortality and Maternal
Health with the launch in September of Secretary General Ban
Ki-moon‘s Global Strategy for Women & Children’s Health.
This strategy was supported by contributions from a number
of Working Groups including an Innovation Working Group, as
well as the launch of the Commission on Information &
Accountability for Women and Children’s Health.
Meanwhile, the multi-stakeholder Broadband Commission for
Digital Development delivered its final report to the UN
Secretary General and Heads of States attending the 64th
General Assembly.
The year 2011 now promises to build on this
progress with both the High Level Meetings (HLMs) during the
65th session of the UN General Assembly to review the
Implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS
and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS (June 8/9, 2011),
and the first High Level Event on the prevention and control
of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) (September 19-20,
2011). A unique opportunity exists to bring together the
inter-linked global health-related MDG and NCD agenda, most
particularly through the unifying potential of
communication, technology and innovation at the national,
regional and global levels, via a continuum of health care
and health ICTs. The informal planning meeting put forward
a number of recommendations for an inter-agency and
multi-stakeholder campaign for 2011.
However, in terms of resource mobilization an
urgent need exists for a potentials “game changer” for smart
philanthropy remains a global challenge. The following
describes an innovative and strategic mode and model for
accelerating the achievement of the Millennium Development
Goals by 2015 in a unique partnership with the United
Nations and www.Avazoo.com
.
Global Challenges and Opportunities 2011-2015
Today, with unprecedented flows in information, products,
services, people, capital and ideas all amidst the worldwide
financial crisis, the great global challenges for developed
and developing countries are in many ways converging:
·
Poverty and Hunger
·
Peace and Security
·
Education and Health
·
Environmental Sustainability
·
Ageing Populations
·
Information Revolution
Millennium Development Goals 2000-2015
By 2015 all United Nations Member States have pledged to:
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and gender empowerment
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other
infectious diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop a global partnership for development

So how do the Goals relate to the networked economy? Are any
of the Goals achievable by 2015 without the strategic and
innovative use of low-cost technology for the scaling up of
joined-up interventions? And what are the missing links in
the development value chain?
Clearly, the current social and economic climate indicates
that the achievements of Goals are in jeopardy without the
creation of innovative financial modes and models,
particularly in partnership with the private sector. In
short;
urgent work is needed on developing innovative stainable
economic and business models for the achievement of current
objectives
Identifying replicable lessons and key gaps for scaling up
and fast tracking joined-up implementations of the MDGs
remains a critical challenge for the development community:
•
Firstly, it must be recognized that the intrinsically
inter-linked MDG agendas of poverty, education, gender,
health and environment are being throttled at birth by
inter-agency disconnects, and the incentives for innovation
and investment by the private sector are being choked.
•
Secondly, the at once immensely disruptive yet hugely
collaborative nature of the mobile, internet and high-speed
broadband value chains must be embraced and exploited for
jobs, growth and global public good sooner rather than
later.
•
Third, advocacy for both technology and development in
exploiting the use of communications technologies to
accelerate joined-up delivery of the MDGs must be used to
reignite the MDG campaign and put it once again at the
forefront of the global agenda.
Breakthrough Model
The following describes a breakthrough model for smart
philanthropy based delivering a vehicle where all levels of
society – affluent and low income can palpably and
publically to the achievement of the Goals in an interactive
manner utilizing a unique adaptation of “digital public
goods”.
The global networked economy matched to smart philanthropy
can achieve unprecedented levels of awareness and ability
for universal participation. This presentation is explicitly
intended to address the critical funding gap, which remains
a clear barrier of the Millennium Goals that has been
exacerbated by the current status of the economic downturn
and strain on public sector budgets including traditional
donor funding mechanisms.
Changing Landscape of Partnership
The new networked economy dynamics are complex and only
partially understood and rapidly changing traditional
business models.

Lately, partnership activities have taken a new direction.
The UN has witnessed and embraced this paradigm shift for
over 10 years.

A “Game Changing” Model for Smart Philanthropy
Avazoo Corporation has devised the world’s largest
prize draw event known as the Billion Dollar Raffle in which
one lucky winner will win one billion US dollars, one in
three ticket holders will win a cash prize as well as
generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the achievement
of the Millennium Goals, with a 40% target donation of
revenue.
This exciting project has been in design and development for
almost five years and is due to be launched to the world in
September 2011.
In designing the Billion Dollar Raffle we have analyzed data
from lotteries, sweepstakes and other prize draws from
around the world and used these findings to structure a
unique model that will comply with all legal requirements in
each jurisdiction as well as succeed from a marketing and
revenue standpoint.
Some of the basic principles that apply to any lottery,
sweepstake or high value prize draw can be summarized as
follows:
·
The bigger the jackpot that can be won, the greater the
volume of ticket purchase and the easier the sale.
·
The donation of a percentage of ticket sales revenue to good
charitable causes helps many consumers to justify the
purchase of a ticket.
·
When the economic environment is depressed the average
consumer spends more on lotteries and other cash prize
draws.
·
The high odds of winning the jackpot in a lottery seems to
have no adverse effect on ticket sales
·
A high proportion of consumers do not regard lotteries and
raffles as gambling.
Although not a lottery, the billion dollar raffle has
similar characteristics but offers better odds of winning
the grand prize than most major worldwide lotteries, offers
better odds (1 in 3) of winning a cash prize and provides
players with a unique opportunity to earn free additional
entries and monthly bonus prizes.
Practical Comparison
The closest direct comparison to Avazoo’s Billion Dollar
Raffle is the El Gordo lottery in Spain which is regarded as
the biggest lottery in the world. The main lottery is drawn
just twice a year but smaller bonus draws occur 6 times
throughout the year to encourage ticket sales. At the
Christmas draw in 2010 the Spanish El Gordo paid out over €3
BILLION (US$3.986 Billion) to over 1,202,490 cash prize
winners in Spain and around the world with the maximum prize
of €3,000,000 paid to multiple winners.
Although other lotteries have bigger individual top prizes,
El Gordo is ranked the worlds biggest because of the total
sum paid out. Rather than a single jackpot, it aims for a
share-out in which thousands of numbers yield
prize money.
According to the state lottery agency, the average Spaniard
spent €60 on
El Gordo in 2010. El Gordo cash prizes are paid out in a
single lump-sum --- not spread over 20 years like most North
American Lotteries --- and completely free of Government
taxes. When you win, your prize money is transferred
directly to you – IN FULL and in the currency of our choice
–
to any bank in the world you specify.
The cost of a full ticket for the El Gordo lottery is €200
($266) and many people will purchase one tenth of a ticket
at a cost of just €20 each as a ten person syndicate where
any prize money won is divided between the 10 holders of the
full ticket.
You don't have to be a Spanish national to play and win in
the El Gordo Draw; tickets can be purchased by nationals of
any country although according to their own statistics, more
than 90% of all ticket purchasers reside in Europe.
Unique Features
Avazoo has a number of truly unique features which
set the Billion Dollar Raffle aside from anything else
currently available anywhere else in the world. Some of the
proprietary features include:
·
Avazoo’s Billion Dollar Raffle offers the world’s
largest cash prize of US$1 Billion to one single winner and
millions of other cash prizes to maintain a ratio of 1 in 3
ticket holders winning a cash prize.
·
The raffle ticket comes in the form of a debit card which
can be used worldwide to make purchases. The unique 16 digit
number on the debit card becomes the raffle ticket number in
the draw.
·
Avazoo offers the chance to earn additional free
entries to ticket holders through referring others and
making purchases using their debit card.
·
We offer a choice of 3 entry levels for individuals starting
at $100 for a single entry, $250 for 5 entries and $500 for
15 entries with optional payment plans.
·
The program caters for groups by offering a syndicate entry
for up to 25 people at a total cost of $1500 which is ideal
for groups of co-workers, families and others who wish to
play together at a reduced cost and maximize their chances
of winning through earning free entries.
·
Avazoo offers ticket holders a chance to win valuable
monthly bonus prizes such as computers, TV’s, Rolex watches,
Cars, vacations and cash prizes to encourage early purchase
of their raffle entry.
·
The Billion Dollar Raffle will be actively marketed around
the globe to encourage global participation.
·
70% of all ticket revenue will go into the prize fund
compared to between 50% and 55% with most major lotteries.
·
Current estimates are that 40% of the net revenue will
contribute to the Millennium Development Goals with the
active support of the UN Foundation.
We firmly believe the Billion Dollar Raffle will capture the
imagination of millions of people around the world and has
the potential to become the most successful philanthropic
event in history.
Legalities
Currently, there is much activity and discussion around the
globe regarding on-line and internet gambling. Firstly,
allow us to state that:
-
Avazoo will be a licensed gambling entity in
accordance with fully existing international Law.
-
Our business model and concept have been reviewed by
multiple respected legal experts, and the methodology
and delivery system used have been found to comply with
known laws in most of the world. Prior to the launch in
international markets a legal opinion will be sought to
ensure strict compliance with legislation in that
territory.
All legal consultations to date confirm that Avazoo
can legally operate and market the Billion Dollar Raffle
around the world subject to correct licensing and adherence
to legislation in each territory.
In the USA residents are forbidden to gamble via the
internet and so the online sale of tickets will be blocked
to anyone from the USA. Tickets may be sold in a face to
face transaction in most states and so additional sales
methodology has been devised for the US market. However, it
is important to understand that the US market is not
critical to the success of the raffle and may be excluded
from the marketing for first billion dollar raffle draw.
Websites
The primary website for Avazoo has already been
designed and produced in English language and will be
replicated in a number of other languages including Spanish,
Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese,
Russian, Javanese and Korean initially with other languages
to follow. The nature of the business dictates that each
translation will need to be certified in order to ensure an
accurate translation has been performed. In addition to
language translations, each country will have its own unique
website payment gateway and registration process which
integrates
with the global server system.
Summary
Avazoo Corporation has devised the world’s largest
prize draw event known as the Billion Dollar Raffle in which
one lucky winner will win one billion US dollars, one in
three ticket holders will win a cash prize as well as
generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the achievement
of the Millennium Goals, with a 40% target donation of
revenue.
We firmly believe the Billion Dollar Raffle will capture the
imagination of millions of people around the world and has
the potential to become the most successful philanthropic
event in history. Avazoo
is strongly committed to working as a "Sustainable"
corporation. It has adopted fully a management model that
incorporates Financial, Social and Ecological values.
Gerard McKeon, Publisher of Black Tie International
Magazine, has accepted the challenge of putting together a
top International Board to direct the Philanthropic Giving.
There are 76,000 grant making Foundations in the US, who
distributed $45.7 billion in grants in 2010,and Avazoo
is committed to working with these established groups to
provide long term sustainability to projects, while also
incubating new projects and supporting educational programs
to raise the caliber and professionalism of the non-profit
world.
Avazoo is also committed to exploring revenue sharing
ticket sales with local and international foundations, and
it is expected that the huge buzz and cloud generated by the
first Billion Dollar Raffle represents a major direct fund
raising opportunity for non-profits. Especially at a time
from tradition funding methods are failing to meet the
current operating expenses of many in the non-profit world.
Avazoo will be actively engaging in sponsorship and
underwriting deals with top brands and companies and we
expect that this will lead to a substantial increase in
Global Corporate spending in Philanthropy. This will be
especially encouraged by the media exposure generated by
Avazoo events and activities.
The company plans to distribute 40% of its income to
Philanthropic projects. Twenty percent in the country or
region where the tickets were sold and the additional 20% to
be distributed to projects that support the UN Millennium
Goals. Avazoo Is committed to supporting the
achievement of all of the Millennium Goals and provides a
great vehicle for the World's people's to contribute and
support, while having fun and enjoying the game.
Avazoo is the breakthrough model for smart
philanthropy that delivers a vehicle where all levels of
society can palpably and publically to the achievement of
the Goals in an interactive manner utilizing a unique
adaptation of “digital public goods”. Avazoo can
achieve unprecedented levels of awareness and ability for
universal participation.
It is explicitly intended
to distribute 40% of its income
to bridge the critical funding gap that has been further
exposed by the current status of the economic downturn, and
significantly contribute to the attainment of the
Millennium Development Goals, This level of giving, as
supported by background statistical data,
to our knowledge this figure will be at an unparalleled
level within the private sector.
