Empowering Women and Girls:
Educational Pathways to Women’s
Empowerment,
Leadership, and Participation
10 March 2026 at the Turkish House in
New York
during the Commission on the Status of
Women (CSW70).
While access to education has expanded
globally, many women and
girls—particularly in marginalized and
rural communities—continue to face
barriers that limit their leadership
opportunities and participation in
decision-making.
This event brought together
representatives of Member States and
civil society to discuss actionable
pathways that link education to women’s
leadership and civic engagement. It
underscored the vital role of families,
communities, and inclusive policy
frameworks in advancing women’s
meaningful participation in public life,
in alignment with
the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable
Development Goal 7.
