Kamie Lightburn hosted a luncheon in
honor of Youth America Grand Prix, on
April 9th in the Ballroom at The Colony
Hotel in Palm Beach. It was a kick-off
celebration for this year’s YAGP Gala,
coming up on April 29th at Lincoln
Center. “I hope you’ll all join me in
New York!” said Kamie. “It’s my favorite
night of the year, being in the audience
as the next generation of ballerinas
share a stage with some of today’s
biggest ballet stars. We’ll see Paris
Opera Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, ABT
Studio Company and young talented
dancers from YAGP’s international ballet
scholarship competition.”
At the lunch, 75 of Kamie’s friends
gathered for a group portrait with
guests of honor Macie Miersch (Sarasota
Ballet Margaret Barbieri Conservatory)
and Crystal Huang (American Ballet
Theatre JKO School). Macie danced a
variation from La Bayadčre and Crystal
danced Valse Masquerade choreographed by
YAGP alumnus Brady Farrar (ABT), with
costume by Dennis Basso created for
YAGP’s 25th Anniversary Gala last year.
Katherine Gage Boulud gave an impromptu
tribute to Kamie, which had everyone on
their feet for a standing ovation. Kamie
is a YAGP Board Member and on the Gala
committee. Each year she invites a group
of friends from the luncheon to travel
from Florida to New York to join her at
her
Gala table.
Luncheon guests included Cece Black,
Janna Bullock, Sharon Bush, Valerie
Cooper, Lee Fryd, Eleanora Kennedy,
Michael Kovner, Victoria Peyton, Lauren
Day Roberts, and Ramona Singer.
