The ArtExpo in New York is still going
strong due to the expert management of
President Eric Smith who previously was
the Vice President of the largest
company which owned Martin Lawrence
Galleries throughout the United States.
Martin Lawrence Galleries used to have
galleries in every state, but now are
only located in large urban cities.
Martin Lawrence Galleries carries ARTS
of famous known artists only such as
WARHOL, PICASSO, HARING, VASERELY, and
so many many others. I happened to be
one of their Gallery Directors, and at
that time, I had just ended my contract
with the US Military due to medical
advisement of my doctor.
Per chance, I happened to be visiting
one of my friends who worked at the
gallery and he asked me: what will you
do now? I stated that I didn't know,
that I was still deciding what to do...
He suggested that while making my
decision, why not join them and then
leave after
I figured out my next step.
I then discovered that I enjoyed working
at Martin Lawrence Galleries so much so,
that I end up staying for several years
until I made the move to New York City.

A little more about Eric Smith, he is a
very kind man, and
quite understanding...you would truly
enjoy working for and talking to him.
Eric Smith is the President and CEO and
Principal of Redwood Media Group (RMG).
This is the company that owns and
operates five Fine Art Fairs, and No.1
is the New York ArtExpo where they have
artists from all over the world showing
there beautiful paintings and
sculptures. Many famous artists now and
previously had exhibited at the New York
ArtExpo. They also gave seminars about
Art from art experts. Eric Smith has
years of experience in the Art Market
and is highly esteemed, and considered a
leading expert on well known artists,
their art and the art business. |
|
REDWOOD MEDIA also handles SPECTRUM New
York, SPECTRUM Miami (SOLO), and Decor
Expo. Part of their programming is also
to provide exhibits of fine arts in New
York, Miami, Santa Fe, and San Diego.
They also have an online platform called
ArtExplore for artists to showcase their
works and for art lovers and designers
to get art works for there collections
and for there Interior Designs work.
REDWOOD MEDIA also has Online Platforms
providing virtual platforms for artists
to showcase their Art and the Company
website is featured on an online
Marketplace where veteran collectors and
new collectors browse and shop for
additional art to add to their
collections.
This year - a variety of art from famous
artists and upcoming artists are
featured. So for new collectors this is
a great place to start your collections.
They have several upcoming artists with
prices that are affordable...and for
veteran collectors you can continue to
buy works of famous artists. My
recommendation is that at the same
time...buy artworks of upcoming artists
since their prices are still so
affordable and potentially on the rise.
The ArtExpo New York also includes some
Art Talks from different Art Experts. If
you are starting to collect this is a
good place to listen and learn about
Art. These talks will provide you many
ideas of the different topics and
subjects of Art.
Of great note: Please do not call a
painting pictures... because they are
defined as paintings. An example for
instance is that I dislike watching a TV
show about an art curator at a museum
talking about art and dummifying the
language by naming paintings: pictures.
Curators know better and should choose
their language while talking to the
public, their choice of words matters
when teaching others.
So if someone is discussing Art and
wants to know more... I recommend and
suggest taking a class or workshop
because you will learn so much about the
differences of unique art styles, the
variety of topics throughout time used
by artists, how art is constructed and
some technical knowledge.
This information and history includes
subjects of the many Art genres
available from original painting on oils
to acrylics to watercolors on canvas or
board and original Drawings to Limited
Edition Serigraphs on canvas or paper,
to Lithographs that most older artists
were creating before... from the time of
Picasso and his group in Paris to Miro,
Matisse, Leger, and Chagall.
Additionally to consider, and included
are open edition prints and posters as
unique in their own categories. Now
there are limited Editions called Giclee
on Canvas or papers. A lot of artist
prefer this because they can have
limited Edition printed as needed.
REDWOOD MEDIA also represents The
SPECTRUM New York and Miami. This show
highlights different types of
cotemporary art including works from
independent artists, studios and
independent galleries.
REDWOOD MEDIA also handles Art Santa Fe.
This is the only Fine Art Fair in Santa
Fe and the 3rd largest Art Expo.
REDWOOD MEDIA also handles the ART SAN
DIEGO. This fair also showcases Designs
and contemporary Art that represents the
artist in Southern California and the
Art scene there.
Through out the years Redwood Art Media
put up several Art Expos annually where
collectors happily attend and look
forward to the next expo. The Art Expo
is the place where you can find the work
of veteran Artists and also the place to
discover a new and upcoming artist.
We are lucky to live in New York City
because this state is known and named
the Art Capital of the World. Several
European Artists came to New York to
establish themselves from Salvador Dali
(Spain), to Warhol (PA), Haring.(PA) De
Kooning (Netherlands), Vasarely
(Hungary) Joan Miro (Spain) Salvador
Dali (Spain) And many other Europeans
came to New York City to introduced
their work. also Chagall, Piet Mondrian,
Fernand Leger, Marcel Duchamp, and many
more.
I have always liked Art Collecting one
of many reasons is that Art makes your
walls at home or at the office look
beautiful and can last for such a long
time. If you have the right painting or
sculpture you can enjoy each
individually or as part of your
collection, and at the same time
watching the value going up. The right
painting with value is the best
inheritance that you can bequest to your
children. And it is the only item that
you can pay for your tax deduction at
Museums and they will accept their
recent value for exchange so it does not
matter if you buy your paintings for
$1,000.00 if the value currently is
$100,000.00 you will get the most recent
value exchange rate. So a lot of
Advantage of collecting Art with Value
It was nice to meet Eliot Stares (whose
company ESPR LLC originally from
England) who handles the PR for REDWOOD
MEDIA. He does a good job. We will talk
more about him on the next article.
It was a pleasure to meet different
artists from all over the world, one of
note: Chloe Victoria from London. She
has beautiful paintings more like a
modern Picasso but she also makes
beautiful buildings. Another Artist to
mention that makes buildings is Gavi
Kaplan - his work is more a drawing
style of buildings. And the third artist
from France name Perrotte his painting
is more like the Spanish Artist Joan
Miro.
There was a booth that carried artists
from South America called Maria Elena
Beneito Art. They represent artists with
different types of art from Abstraction
to Portraits, to Drawings, Photographs
to Still Lives. I also met three lady
artists also from India: Debjani Datta,
Richa Agarwal and Jaya Gupta of Jaya Art
Gallery. Another artist amazing
Alejandro Chavez makes beautiful
paintings with incredible bold colors -
a more figurative type of art. I also
met a Chinese lady who representing
Chinese Artists and a gentlemen who
makes clocks with Art.
At one booth I met an artist: George G.
Facelo from San Diego - his work is
inspiring, he makes flower arrangements
with soft metals, and uses a canvas as
the background that holds the flowers.
They are beautiful, as one-of-a-kind he
called it Floral Expression and it is
Acrylic Collage. At the other side of
the booth I met Ross Capili from the
Philippines he makes different types of
abstract paintings including Acrylic and
Stainless Sphere on canvas then he put
it inside a pixiglass. He makes
different sizes according to your
heart's desire. His amazing works are
already in the rooms of one of the
hotels in Abu Dhabi in the (UAE) United
Arab Emirates. And he receives a lot of
awards from all over the world about his
paintings.
We also met artist Azamat Dzhanaliev
from Kyrgyzstan. He makes large portrait
on canvas of famous people and then he
outlines it with real gold nails. Very
interesting men.
We also met JP Delgado with Bloom Energy
Drink... I truly love sparkling water,
bubblies - this is why I love this drink
- it also comes in different flavors.
They launched this wonderful energy
drink at the New York ArtExpo. Thanks to
Winni Cahill who represents Bloom Energy
Drink.
The first day was the opening reception
night where I attended with my Press
Crew: Jojo Abelardo and Aimee Termulo
and friends who are true Art Collectors:
Corazon Rivera Vice President and
Founder of Bona Tierra Real Estate in
Manhattan, Atty. Arlene Ureta, Brix
Palin partner with Airix Lumiere Beauty
and Wellness and Nancy Cruz. They truly
love paintings at the New York ArtExpo
they all took many brochures from the
artists in order to choose the right
collections for their offices. Now that
you learn a lot about Art, You are
inspired to start your collections or
for veteran collectors to continue
adding to your collections.
See you all at the New York Art Expo It is always a fun time.
This is your Gloria Cressler signing off
'till next time.
