Neil Patrick Harris leads
an all-star cast of Stephen Sondheim’s Company with The
New York Philharmonic.
Performances run April 7-9, 2011. The award-winning
musical is produced and directed by Lonny Price, and
will be conducted by Sondheim specialist, Paul Gemignani
with the original orchestrations for a
35-piece orchestra by Jonathan Tunick. The production
is being videotaped for a release in movie theaters this
June.
Among those joining Harris
in Company for the New York Philharmonic are Patti
Lupone as Joanne, Jon Cryer as David, Stephen Colbert as
Harry, Christina Hendricks as April, Anika Noni Rose as
Marta, Martha Plimpton as Sarah, Jim Walton as Larry,
Craig Bierko as Peter, Katie Finneran as Amy, Adam Lazar
as Paul, Jill Paice as Susan, Jennifer Laura Thompson as
Jenny, and Chryssie Whitehead as Kathy.
The story of Company
follows five couples and their friend Robert (Neil
Patrick Harris), the perpetual bachelor, Company
explores the true meaning of being in a relationship
through a series of vignettes. Company with music and
lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth was
originally produced and directed on Broadway by Harold
Prince and was the winner of the 1971 Tony Award for
Best Musical.
The New York Philharmonic
is bringing this production of
Stephen Sondheim’s Company to movie theaters this summer
with the help of producers; Lonny Price, Matt Cowat,
Ellen M. Krass,
Stewart F. Lane, Bonnie Comley and Screenvision.
