Drama at the
Disco Volume 3
Raises Support for The Drama League’s
Directors Project
Photos by: Rob Rich
The Drama League brought Broadway’s brightest talents
together for Drama at the Disco Volume 3, its annual benefit
gala held October 19, 2026, at the Edison Ballroom and
Rooftop in New York City. The celebratory evening supported
The Drama League Directors Project, helping advance the
careers of directors whose creative vision shapes the future
of theater and the performing arts. The event was co-chaired
by Una Jackman, Mary Jain, and Thomas M. Neff.
The gala honored Tony Award-winning producer Tom Kirdahy
with the Arts Ally Award and featured special tribute
performances, an elegant dinner, and a rooftop dance party
with live music by Third Reprise and appearances by Broadway
performers, Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, Brandon Uranowitz,
and Nichelle Lewis. Beyond the glamour, the evening served a
vital purpose: raising funds to give directors the
resources, mentorship, training, and professional
opportunities they need to develop ambitious new work.
Established in 1982, The Directors Project is one of the
nation’s most comprehensive career-development initiatives
for directors. Its fellowships, residencies, assistantships,
productions, and international exchanges support artists at
different stages of their careers, creating pathways to
meaningful professional growth and artistic leadership.
The initiative’s success is reflected in its alumni
achievements. As of 2026, Directors Project graduates have
earned 10 Tony Awards, 30 Tony Award nominations, and 28
Obie Awards. More than 100 alumni lead theaters and
production companies worldwide, collectively directing
approximately 1,100 productions each season across five
continents.
By investing in directors, The Drama League strengthens the
entire creative community, helping diverse voices reach
audiences and ensuring fresh perspectives can flourish
onstage and beyond. Proceeds from Drama at the Disco Volume
3 help sustain this mission, transforming one unforgettable
night of celebration into lasting support for the artists
who bring stories to life.
