American Federation
of Arts (AFA)
will present its Annual Gala
& Cultural Leadership
Awards
at Guastavino’s on
Wednesday, November 8,
2023. |
Each year, the AFA
recognizes an artist and
museum leader or
philanthropist for
outstanding
contributions to the art
community.
The event brings
together artists, museum
directors, collectors,
philanthropists, and art
professionals to
celebrate the American
Federation of Arts'
heritage and the event’s
honorees.
This year’s honoree is
photographer, collector,
and philanthropist Judy
Glickman Lauder. |

Past recipients of our
awards have included Eli
& Edythe Broad, Alice
Walton, Wangechi
Mutu, Kehinde
Wiley, Rosa
& Carlos de la Cruz,
and Marina
Abramović,
among others. The
benefit supports the
AFA’s storied traveling
exhibitions program,
established in 1909.
“The Gala & Cultural
Leadership Awards are a
highlight of our
autumn,” said Pauline
Forlenza, Director and
CEO of American
Federation of Arts. “We
spend much of the year
on the road with our
exhibitions, so it is
wonderful to spend an
evening with our
national community in
Greater New York. I am
looking forward to
sharing stories from
museums around the
country and celebrating
Judy Glickman Lauder, an
artist whose career, in
many ways, is a
birthright. Lauder has
devoted her life to
photography; an artistic
practice that was once
contested as an artform.
As the AFA continues
celebrating art that
interrogates the status
quo, may Lauder continue
being an inspiration to
us all.” |
