Galveston, TX –
The
14th Annual Salute the Heroes
Fishing Tournament set sail on Saturday,
May 10th, from Waterman’s Marina in
Galveston, Texas. This year’s event,
hosted by the Heroes for Freedom
Foundation, broke records with over
30 boats and individual guides
from Houston, Austin, Dallas and San
Antonio taking more than 100 veterans
and service members out for a day of
unforgettable camaraderie and
competitive fishing.
“This year’s event marks the largest
tournament ever organized by the Heroes
for Freedom Foundation,” said retired
U.S. Army Special Operations Captain
Philip W. Jalufka, CEO of
Austin-based Legacy International Resort
Properties. “It’s incredible to see the
community come together to show
appreciation and support for our
heroes.”
The winning boat sponsored
by IBC Bank,
reeled in the
heaviest stringer consisting of two
Redfish and 3 Speckled Trout weighing an
impressive 20 pounds 14 ounces.

during the awards ceremony.
Following a successful day on the water,
guests gathered for a bountiful
seafood buffet, while enjoying the
sounds of local artist Charles Lopez,
reconnecting with friends old and new.
The celebration culminated with a
heartfelt award ceremony,
recognizing standout catches and
honoring all participating veterans and
service members.
