ANIMAL GROSSOLOGY OPENS AT
THE SOUTH FLORIDA SCIENCE
MUSEUM
(West Palm
Beach, Fl) — Nearly 500
guests were truly
en-GROSS-ed at the South
Florida Science Museum on
Friday, September 24.
Guests got a special
sneak-peek at the new
interactive exhibition
“Animal Grossology,” during
the Museum’s “Nights at the
Museum” event. “Animal
Grossology,” open through
January 9, 2011, brings to
life all the gritty and
gross facts on some of
nature’s most interesting
critters.
Oozing with
disgusting science and
interactive learning games,
the all-new “Animal
Grossology” exhibit is sure
to provide a unique
perspective on the animal
kingdom. The South Florida
Science Museum, in
conjunction with Advanced
Exhibits, invites the public
to experience some of the
slimiest, stinkiest and
downright yuckiest creatures
on earth. This new exhibit
follows in the footsteps of
the overwhelmingly popular
“Grossology, the (Impolite)
Science of the Human Body”
and is the next generation
in the GROSSOLOGY series.
The
exhibition was created and
produced by Advanced
Exhibits, a division of
Advanced Animations LLC, in
collaboration with Sylvia
Branzei, the author of the
popular GROSSOLOGY series of
books.
In
addition to the Grossology
Preview, the evening's
events were part of the
Museum's regular "Nights at
the Museum" series. Damaged
in the wake of Hurricane
Wilma’s wrath and tucked
away for almost five years,
the Observatory at the South
Florida Science Museum has
now reopened to a
starry-eyed public for the
Museum’s monthly “Nights at
the Museum” from 6 to 10 pm.
on the last Friday of every
month.
The South
Florida Science Museum
provides curious minds of
all ages with an
entertaining and educational
journey through science and
technology. Located in West
Palm Beach, the museum
features more than 50
hands-on exhibits, a digital
planetarium, freshwater and
saltwater aquariums, as well
as natural history
exhibitions. Each year the
museum welcomes more than
120,000 visitors and reaches
more than 55,000 students
through workshops at the
museum and outreach programs
to local schools.
Established in 1961, the
museum is a non-profit
organization dedicated to
exciting curiosity and
furthering the understanding
and appreciation of science
and technology.
The South Florida Science
Museum is located at 4801
Dreher Trail North in West
Palm Beach. Museum
admission, which includes
the Grossology exhibition,
is: Adults $11.95; Seniors
62+ $10.50; and children
ages three-12 $8.95, under
three years and Museum
members are free.
