New York, NY – The 9th Annual Ackerman Institute for the Family “Moving Families Forward Gala” was held Monday, October 26th at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
The 2015 Moving Families Forward Gala honored:

Jimmy Smits with the Ackerman Leadership Award

      Alice K. Netter with the Ackerman Distinguished Service Award

 William Donaldson with the Ackerman Partner Award

Jacqueline Woodson 
with the Moving Families Forward Award
The gala was hosted by Tamsen Fadal, seven-time Emmy-Winning Anchor, PIX 11 News, Host of Broadway Profiles and best-selling author. This is the fourth consecutive year that Tamsen has supported the gala, and her second as host. The gala benefits the vital programs and ongoing services for children, families and adults at the Ackerman Institute for the Family.
This year’s Moving Families Forward Gala Co-Chairs were Martha Fling and Deborah Werner. They are members of the Board of Directors of the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and staunch supporters of its work on behalf of the well-being of children and families of our communities.

VIP attendees included: Lois Braverman, President & CEO, Ackerman Institute for the Family; Tamsen Fadal, seven-time Emmy®-winning Anchor, PIX 11 News at 5pm, 6 pm, and 10:00 pm;  Jimmy Smits, Golden Globe & Emmy-winning star of the new series The Get Down, past star of Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, The West Wing, NYPD Blue, L.A. Law, star of several films and of Broadway; Alice K. Netter; Ackerman Distinguished Service Award recipient; William Donaldson, former Chairman of the SEC, Ackerman Partner Award recipient; Jacqueline Woodson,  Moving Families Forward Award recipient; Martha Fling, Gala Co-Chair and Ackerman Institute Chair of the Board of Directors; Deborah Werner,Gala Co-Chair, member, Ackerman Board of Directors, and intake specialist and family and couples therapist; Cheryl Wills, award-winning NY1 News Anchor and author; Camilla Barungi, model, entrepreneur and activist of Project Runway fame; Javier Gomez, People Magazine’s “Sexiest Artist Alive,” noted fine art photographer & entrepreneur; Marie Wilson, author, founder and President Emeriti of the White House Project and the Ms. Foundation for Women, and creator of Take our Daughters to Work Day; Nicole Poteat, Goldman Sachs;Emilie Dubois, Goldman Sachs; Patricia Von Musulin, jewelry designer; Enid Nemy, former columnist for The New York Times; Hugh Hildesley, Executive Vice President, Sotheby’s; Bruce & Lois Zenkel, philanthropists; Victoria Kahn; Gisella Lemos de Moraes, fashion stylist; Laurie Sprayregen, Trustee, Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services; Patricia Shiland, The Studio Fitness; James Park, Owner, The Studio Fitness; Jane Donaldson, Phillips Oppenheim.
