The Feminist Press at the City University of New
York Celebrates their
40th Anniversary Gala Night
honored Mira Nair, Sandra Levine, Rebecca Seawright
and Nancy Wexler
The
Feminist Press at The City University of New York
celebrated their 40th Annual Gala
The night had 390 guests and
raised $300,000.
The night’s honorees included
Filmmaker Mira Nair,
Artist Sandra Levine, Attorney and Activist Rebecca Seawright
and Scientist Nancy Wexler. Special guests
included Uma Thurman, City Council Speaker
Christine Quinn and performance artist Karen
Finley.
In addition, there was a
special presentation honoring Forty Feminists under
40 including Tony nominated playwright Sarah Ruhl,
Shira Koch Epstein, Executive Director of the
New York Taxi Worker’s Alliance Bhairavi Desai
and Christie’s Lydia Fenet.
The Gala
benefits The Feminist Press at the City University
of New York, the oldest continuing women’s publisher
in the world.
